The "birth of the automobile" in 1835 fueled billboards in the United States? Not right.

The first purpose-built automobile, the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, was built in 1886.

The era of the "horseless carriage" began around the 1890s.

The Model T came at the turn of the century (1908).

In 1900, there were only a few thousand automobiles in the entire United States.
